Sierra Domb embraces being multifaceted. Alongside her work in health, science, and communication, she enjoys amateur nature photography, a creative outlet she has appreciated for many years. While living in Florida, she captured local scenes as a reporter, with her photos appearing in The Miami Herald and various online platforms. From encountering wildlife and unique scenery with friends in California to photographing the vibrancy and landscapes of the Caribbean while visiting family, nature photography has remained a calming and enjoyable activity.
Although traveling can sometimes be difficult or not possible due to her other conditions, Autoimmune Dysregulation and Erythromelalgia, Sierra makes a concerted effort to notice the natural world around her, whether it is a plant growing by the roadside or an unexpected bird outside a hospital window.
At the height of her Visual Snow Syndrome, her vision was overwhelmed by dense flickering static, flashing lights, afterimages, and extreme light sensitivity. As she navigated these sensory disturbances and feelings of detachment from the visual world, photography became a grounding force. Capturing nature through the lens, despite a neurological condition that distorted her perception, offered a sense of connection and familiarity.
Sierra continued using photography as a creative outlet, a reminder that even if her view of the world had changed, she could still engage with the things she loved, just through a different lens.
